What is General Dentistry?
General Dentistry includes all phases of dental care, involving the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of a wide variety of conditions, disorders and diseases affecting teeth, gums and maxillofacial (associated with jaw and face) region of the body. General dentists serve as your first line of defense against oral health problems. Dr. Plasch also works with specialists when appropriate to enhance your dental care. Dr. Plasch has earned Fellowships in the Academy of General Dentistry and the Dental Organization for Conscious Sedation, and is a member of the American Academy of Dental Sleep Medicine.
Onlays
Onlays are used to protect fractured or damaged teeth from further damage. Porcelain onlays also match tooth color for optimal aesthetic results. They extend over the cusps of the teeth and save more tooth structure than crowns.
Bridges
To fill a space where teeth are missing, a bridge (which is comprised of two or more crowns and an artificial tooth) may be used.
Porcelain Crowns
After removing badly damaged or decayed material, a tooth-like “cap” or porcelain crown is cemented or bonded in place. Crowns can be matched to your tooth color.
Orthodontics
Various procedures can be used to realign your teeth and change your bite to enhance your smile. We offer Invisalign, a clear and convenient aligner therapy, and Six Month Smile.
Full Mouth Reconstruction
Restoring all of the teeth is called a “full mouth reconstruction”. Usually chosen when major changes to your bite are required, one of the benefits of this procedure is that it allows you and the dentist latitude in pre-selecting the size, shape, and arrangement of your teeth.
Dental Implants
Dental implants provide an excellent solution for replacing a single tooth, several teeth, or all your teeth. They are among the most successful dental treatment options available. The implant consists of a small, sturdy metal post that anchors the tooth, and it is capped with a dental crown. A full denture or fixed bridge can also be anchored for better stability and comfort.
When the procedures are complete, your dental implant(s) will be a natural, beautiful, and functional addition to your smile. For more information on the benefits of dental implants, please give our Hayward, CA dental practice a call today.
Tooth-Colored Fillings and Inlays
Rather than using the older silver/mercury fillings, tooth-colored fillings or inlays are made of porcelain or composite material and are bonded in place. They are conservative, kinder to your teeth, less invasive, and are natural looking. Composite material or porcelain (to match your tooth color) may be used in place of silver/mercury material. These materials also conserve tooth structure.
